Venture Capitalist (Investment Department Member)

Job Description We are a venture capital firm, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kyoto University, which makes equity investments in and fosters university-launched ventures based on research results from national universities.
This is an exciting job where you will produce startup foundations, accompany company growth, and share success together with management. Join us in creating the next generation of industries.

A series of duties related to investment execution
Formation of investment projects, including start-up support
Evaluating and executing investment projects
Hands-on support for portfolio company development
Investment recovery (IPO and M&A support)
Management of our own talent bank and acceleration programs
Qualifications, etc. (Required)
Those who are enthusiastic about creating businesses utilizing the research results of national universities.
At least 3 years of experience in one of the following areas of work
1. investment-related work at venture capital firms, investment banks, etc.
2. new business development and R&D related work at operating companies, etc.
3. work at a strategic consulting firm
(Preferred)
Graduated from a university or completed a graduate course in the natural sciences.
employment status Full-time employee (6-month probationary period)

After the probationary period (standard working hours: 8 hours per day, 8:30 to 17:30), the position may be transferred to the discretionary labor system (specialized work type) by labor-management agreement.

Under the discretionary work system, employees are free to come and go as they please and are considered to have worked eight hours.

Vacations (Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, year-end and New Year holidays, anniversary of the company's founding, and summer holidays), annual paid vacations.
salary Base salary: Approximately 575-11 million yen (including various allowances, based on annual income) *There is a performance evaluation (once a year), no bonus

Job Description As a member of the second phase of our Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) program, "EIR-iCAP," you will be responsible for the practical aspects of investing in and nurturing startups that utilize the research results of national universities, while aiming to start your own startup and become independent. Based on your experience and interests, you will develop a business theme, formulate a business plan with the support of the Kyoto University Group, and start your own business. After starting your own business, we will support you in your activities as a business manager.

To monitor and report on the financial condition of our portfolio companies.
Procedures (exercise of voting rights, etc.) related to shares owned by the Company

Direct contact with portfolio companies is handled by the staff member in charge of investment, so this is basically a task that can be completed in-house. The environment is one in which you can feel free to ask questions and consult with us about how to proceed with your work.
