Privacy Policy (Basic)

Kyoto University Innovation Capital Corporation ("Kyoto-iCAP") (hereinafter referred to as "Kyoto-iCAP") recognizes the importance of personal information in the operation of its business and considers it its greatest responsibility to ensure the protection of such information. Kyoto-iCAP will properly handle not only personal information, but also information related to interested parties of corporations and other organizations.
In addition, Kyoto-iCAP may establish a separate privacy policy for the handling of personal information of applicants to Kyoto-iCAP and employees and officers in connection with the handling of personal information in individual projects operated by Kyoto-iCAP, and in these cases, Kyoto-iCAP shall handle personal information in accordance with such privacy policy. In such cases, personal information shall be handled in accordance with the relevant privacy policy.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations

Kyoto-iCAP is committed to the realization of the protection of personal information, and is therefore committed to the protection of personal information in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003, hereinafter referred to as the "Personal Information Protection Act"). The Kyoto-iCAP complies with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003, hereinafter referred to as the "Personal Information Protection Act"), government guidelines, and other relevant laws and regulations to realize the protection of personal information. Kyoto-iCAP complies with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003), guidelines of various ministries and agencies, and other related laws and regulations. In addition, the definitions of terms used in this Privacy Policy shall be in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law.

Handling of Personal Information

Kyoto-iCAP will establish a management system for the protection of personal information in accordance with the actual conditions of business operations, and will handle acquired personal information appropriately and carefully in accordance with internal rules and regulations.

Acquisition of Personal Information

Kyoto-iCAP acquires personal information through legal and fair means.

Purpose of Use of Personal Information

Kyoto-iCAP will use the personal information it obtains to

  1. Searching for investment targets, research and consideration for investment decisions, investment execution, understanding the current status of the target company, and support for the investee
  2. Management of clubs for prospective entrepreneurs
  3. In addition to ① and ② above, events and other activities to build an ecosystem for starter-up companies and related companies, support activities, etc.

The information will be used within the scope of the following purposes of use or the purposes of use that are clear from the circumstances of its acquisition, and will not be used for any other purposes, except with the consent of the person in question or as permitted under the law.

  • To send you offers to participate in our events and information about the latest technology.
  • To operate, maintain, and manage our website, to improve its security, or to prevent unauthorized use.
  • To develop, analyze or improve our services
  • To search for investment targets, collect information necessary for investment consideration, contact and respond to inquiries, etc.
  • To collect information, communicate, and respond to inquiries regarding our business partners and support customers in the course of business
  • To respond to various inquiries, requests, consultations, or complaints to the Company
  • To comply with laws, regulations, and other rules, etc.
  • For purposes other than those listed above, which were notified to the individual when the Company acquired the personal information
Provision of Personal Data to Third Parties

Kyoto-iCAP will not provide personal data to third parties without the consent of the individual or as permitted by law. Kyoto-iCAP may provide your personal data to a third party in a country that has a different privacy protection system than the country in which you reside, if permitted by law. In such cases, Kyoto-iCAP will enter into an appropriate contract with the foreign third party to protect your personal information.

Sharing of Personal Data

Kyoto-iCAP may share personal data as follows

  1. Kyoto University
  2. Limited partner of an investment limited partnership of which Kyoto-iCAP is the general partner
    However, personal data based on personal information acquired for ② shall be excluded.
Name, address, and name of the representative of the person responsible for the management of personal data

Measures for Safety Management

To ensure the accuracy and security of personal data, Kyoto-iCAP will take reasonable measures against risks such as unauthorized access to personal data and leakage, loss, or destruction of personal data.

Supervision of employees and contractors

Kyoto iCAP will provide its employees with the necessary education and training to ensure the implementation of security control measures and other appropriate handling of personal data. In the event that Kyoto-iCAP outsources all or part of its handling of personal data, Kyoto-iCAP will select a party that is recognized as handling personal data appropriately, and will properly stipulate in the outsourcing contract security control measures, confidentiality, conditions for re-consignment, and other matters concerning the handling of personal data, and will exercise necessary and appropriate supervision. The Company will implement necessary and appropriate supervision.

Continuous Improvement of the Management System for Personal Information Protection

Kyoto-iCAP will strive to continuously review and improve its management system for personal information protection in order to maintain it in the best possible condition.

Disclosure, Correction, Suspension of Use, etc. of Retained Personal Data

If Kyoto-iCAP receives a request from an individual for disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, elimination, suspension of provision to a third party, notification of the purpose of use, or disclosure of records of provision to a third party of retained personal data held by Kyoto-iCAP in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law, Kyoto-iCAP will respond appropriately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law after confirming the identity of the individual making such a request.
