NEDO's "Support Project for Securing Management Personnel for University Startups (MPM)" has been selected.

Kyoto University Innovation Capital Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Kyoto iCAP") (Head office: Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; Representative Director: Kusumi Kusumi) has been selected as a recipient of the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)'s "Project to Support University Start-ups in Securing Management Personnel (MPM)". The project will be implemented by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).

This project aims to expand the pathways for acquiring management personnel for university-originated startups. It seeks to foster the creation and growth of these startups by identifying individuals interested in launching their own businesses or joining startup management, then matching them with university technology seeds and university-originated startups.

Kyoto-iCAP was quick to identify the lack of management talent as a bottleneck for startups. In 2017, it launched a membership-based organization, "ECC-iCAP," as its pool of entrepreneurial candidates. Furthermore, in 2023, it initiated the visiting entrepreneur program, "EIR-iCAP." Through these efforts, KYOTO-iCAP has facilitated the establishment and teaming up of numerous deep-tech companies. So far, ECC-iCAP has produced major startups such as the nuclear fusion startup Kyoto Fusioneering and Regional Fish. Additionally, from EIR-iCAP, two EIRs have founded university-originated deep-tech startups.

Through this MPM project, we will develop these activities and accelerate the creation of world-class deep tech ventures from Kyoto and the Kansai region.
